Series 1 tamper resistant cover, control kit
Sun Hydraulics introduces a new style of tamper resistant cap for Series 1 cartridges. The deep drawn metal can (zinc plated steel) has been replaced by a black Delrin®, injection molded cap. This new design is easier to install, more tamper resistant and does not corrode. All of Series 1 products with a 'C' control are currently being shipped with the new style tamper resistant cap. The pressure setting must be specified at the time of the order and the setting will be stamped on the cartridge hex.
For kit purchases, the new injection molded cap must be used with a cartridge body that has a retaining groove cut into it. For cartridges manufactured prior to June 2004 or for customers uncertain of which cap is applicable, combination kits are available including both caps. Note: Sun's existing metal can may be used on cartridges with or without the retaining groove.
- The tamper resistant cover is designed to be a non-removable item. Once removed, it can not be re-assembled to the cartridge.
- The new plastic (black) covers will only fit those cartridges designed to accept them. Metal covers will fit all cartridges within the applicable series the cover was designed for.
- The new cap has three protrusions (cap tangs) on its internal diameter that snap into a groove cut into the hex body. Since this design does not depend on frictional locking, much less force is required to install it.

- Adjust valve to desired setting and tighten locknut.
- To install, press the cap onto the cartridges's hex body until a snapping sound is heard. Do not force the cap to bottom out against the top of the hex. A small gap should remain. Pull back on the cap to verify a successful installation.
