Does the +5V reference need to be used when using a resistive input option on the XMD Driver?

Two-wire resistive input devices will pull excitation voltage from the input pin. Only two wires are needed for this input type — one connected to the XMD input pin and one connected to an external ground.

How do I reset my XMD password?

Call Sun at +1 941-362-1200.

The supply voltage range for the XMD Driver is 9-32VDC. Can I drive a 24V coil with a 12V supply, or a 12V coil with a 24V supply?

No. The resistance values for each coil voltage are selected to limit the maximum current that can be drawn by the coil. A mismatch in coil and supply voltage can result in too little or too much current draw. A coil should be selected based on supply voltage being used.

How much current do XMD-01 and XMD-02 consume?

XMD-01: I(sol) + 25mA
XMD-02: I(sol1) + I(sol2) + 25mA

Does the XMD Driver have an internal TVS Diode? Is a coil with or without diode recommended for use with the XMD?

XMD Series Drivers include a TVS Diode. Coils do not need a diode when being controlled by an XMD driver.

Why won't the XMD send output to the coil when an input is provided?

The XMD default settings have the enable function turned on. In order to see any output, at least 3VDC must be sent to pin 9, the enable pin. Alternatively, the enable function can be disabled on the config screen of the XMD app.

Can the XMD Series drivers be used to control non-FLeX coils or non-Sun coils?

Yes, up to 3 amps per PWM output. This includes pumps, CETOP valves, directional valves, proportional valves, and more. Duty-cycle mode can also control solenoid switching valves, PWM variable speed e-Fans and LEDs.
