2-way, solenoid-operated directional poppet valve - common cavity
Capacity: 12 gpm45 L/min. |
Cavity: SC-08-02
Technical Features [ + ]
This solenoid-operated, 2-way, 2-position cartridge is a pilot-operated, directional poppet valve. This valve offers 2-position/2-way directional control with a lower pressure drop than its direct-acting counterpart. The valve is available in the normally open and normally closed condition.
- The normally open configuration allows up to 4.3 in³/min (70 mL/min) of leakage when below a pressure differential of 1000 psi (70 bar) between its ports.
- This valve does not guarantee low leakage and is not suitable for load-holding applications.
- The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
- All ports are rated to a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar).
- The cartridge installation torque of 22 lbf ft (30 Nm) is required for best performance.
- The valve is available with a manual push-type, with detent, override option (L control). This option is also fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar).
- The valve is available with a manual unscrew-type override option (L control) on the normally closed configuration. This option is also fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar).
- The metal coil nut is a functional feature of the valve and should be correctly installed for proper performance of the valve.
- Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP67. See individual coil product pages for details.
- Coils can be mounted on the tube in either direction.

FAQs [ + ]
There are exactly 250 Sun drops in a cubic inch or 15 in a cc.
Direct-acting valves are used to prevent over pressure, and pilot-operated valves are used to regulate pressure. If you are unsure, use a direct-acting valve. Sun's direct acting valves are very fast, dirt tolerant, stable, and robust. Sun's pilot-operated valves are moderately fast, they have a low pressure rise vs. flow curve, and they are easy to adjust.
Only external seals are serviceable. Sun offers replacement seal kits for all cartridge models. The applicable kit part number can be found in the product page's Technical Data table or by using our Cartridge Seal Kit search function located under Accessories. Please note: Converting the external seals from one material to another does not ensure fluid compatibility with that material due to the existence of internal seals within the cartridge.
