Sun offers explosion proof coils for use in hazardous environments. Certification requires the explosion proof coil to be sold as a complete cartridge/coil assembly. • Certification requires the explosion proof coil to be sold as a complete cartridge/coil assembly. Coil cannot be purchased separately.
• No arc suppression diodes in coil.
• Coil windings utilize NEMA-MW-80, Class F (155 deg C) magnet wire.
• For optimum proportional performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 80 - 250 Hz.
• Ingression protection rating is IP67.
• RoHS compliant. Restricted materials less than 0.1% total by weight.
• The external steel shell is zinc plated with yellow dichromate. The coil nut is zinc plated with clear dichromate.
• Non-resettable integral internal thermal and current fuse protected.
• Coil must be installed on the cartridge with the proper orientation for proper performance. See drawing/instructions.

• Coil/cartridge assembly can be mounted in any position, however, coil orientation on cartridge assembly is critical. Arrows on coil label must face towards coil nut.
• Coil cannot be purchased separately and must be configured along with the cartridge valve. Please see the applicable cartridge product page for ordering information.
• Sun's explosion proof coil requires more clearance than 770 series coil. Sun manifolds with more than one cavity may not allow enough clearance for explosion proof coils.
• For proportional valve applications, the maximum current of 590mA has been established so a proportional valve can function optimally under a variety of ambient temperatures.
